Flags on a Stick Blog Hop - My Day! No Foolin"!

My flags today are inspired by what I am seeing this week outside my window!

Spring is here and this beautiful field of bluebonnets is right across the road from where we are staying! In my parent's yard, you will find a riot of color!

The bluebonnet flag is hand painted on canvas and then quilted. The last two flags are each embellished with fabric applique and pen and ink drawings on canvas, then quilted. Of course, I added ribbons to wave in the wind!
Thank you for stopping by to see what I had today! Be sure you the other blogs on the hop today and see what kind of flags they are waving! Thank you,  Mdm. Samm and Thearica for hosting us this time around! Here is the rest of the schedule for today:

My Day to Shake My Pom Poms!!

This is my day to show my take on using pom poms!  This is Pom Pom Tom, the cat! Tom's arms and legs are made from pom poms, tightly threaded on a yarn and then trimmed to give a smoother contour. (Tom's body is batik, but if you made extremely large pom poms, you could use those instead!)

It's Fiesta time in San Antonio. There are parades, parties, and celebrations everywhere! Bright colors are mandatory! My second project is a banner - complete with pom poms, beads, and bells hanging from the bottom. I hung it on my patio in preparation for a Fiesta meal! (I used the Clover pom pom maker to make all of the pom poms in both of my projects). After trying to use a cardboard circle, I found I could make about 3 times as many with the Clover tool in the time it took me to make one the old fashioned way!)
Be sure and check out the other blogs participating today!

Thank you to Mdm. Samm and Thearica
for being our hosts for this event. Did you know there were so many things you could do with pom poms?

(Here I am shaking my pom poms for you!!)

...and here is Sugarplum trying to get in the photo. She thought I meant HER when I said I was going to photograph my cat! NOTE: No cats were harmed in the making of this post!

New Christmas Design, Peace on Earth

copyright 2010, Linda Winters

"Peace on Earth"
As I sit this morning drinking my coffee, I look out and see the sunrise over my back yard. The grass is still green, the chrysanthemums are brilliant gold, yellow, and orange and I can hear birds still singing. The air is cool (55 degrees, 7:00 a.m.) and there is a sense of calm all around me. I would love every morning to be like this, but I know that there will be mornings that are hectic, mornings I will wake up feeling bad, mornings where everything seems to go "wrong". For now, though, I will enjoy the peace of this moment. I will try today to offer small acts of kindness to the people I come in contact with - at the grocery store, in my family, and on the road.

The banner above is my latest pattern. It is not available at my webstore yet.  If you are interested in it, you can contact me about shipping one to you.

Until next time, enjoy those little moments of peace you find around you,  even if they are fleeting.
