Surprise! We Have Babies!
I was out with my camera at sunset because the sun was such a gorgeous orange. I snapped a few pictures and then decide to look in on the little wren's nest that is in my hanging pot on the patio .( I showed the eggs in the nest in a previous post. here Scroll down to see the nest.) I am only about 5'2" and the pot is hanging at about 8 or 9 feet, so I couldn't see in even standing on a chair. So I stood on the chair anyway and held my camera above my head and pointed in among the geraniums. I knew it was a long shot that I could see the eggs, but I thought it would be fun to try. I couldn't even see the thumbnail on my camera screen, so I was certainly shooting blind. When I downloaded my photo, this is what I had. I only took one shot. Aren't they cute? I just love babies!!!
Tomorrow is a holiday here in the U.S., so I will be enjoying a day with my sweet husband. I hope you have a wonderful day full of good surprises!

At this stage they have a face that only a mother can love - you can help leaving little treats of food and water nearby.
(and just a piece of information - never touch the babies - The mother will not accept it after being touched and have 'human' smells!)
Recently I rescued an own who fell from its nest.
Love the baby birds! One thing I love about being outdoors lately is listening to the birds sing. They seem to be especially happy lately.ReplyDelete
The sunset was beautiful yesterday evening. We mentioned it on our way home last night. Sometimes, I think I take it for granted. Living where you can see it daily sometimes, I don't stop to look. Glad you did.
OH!!! Thank you so much for sharing the baby photos with us. I hope you post more as they grow...I love watching the cycle of life and as you already know I love the birds, all of them. Some though, like hummingbirds, chickadees, finches and those sparrows that are so abundant but sing so beautifully just really steal my heart. The sunset is really beautiful too...great photo.ReplyDelete
**Just a note for 'Catswhiskers'...I too always thought the mother bird would reject the babies and even the eggs if touched by us. However, in my last issue of 'Birds and Blooms' magazine, a bird 'Specialist' said that is a very common myth, but not true. He said if you see a baby out of the nest, go ahead and gently put it back in. Mom might dive and squawk at you while you do it but she will go right back to her nest. We learn something new every day... :o)
Keep the photos coming Linda. Have a wonderful day with hubby. Hugs...
Great photo of the baby birds!ReplyDelete
Sometimes you have to be careful about being too kind. Usually baby birds are kicked out of the nest for a reason.
