We've Found a House!

We've found a house! I am trying to wait until we actually close on it to post pictures. We should close on either Friday or Monday, depending on when some work is completed. 
The house is in the Texas hill country, which is an area we have loved for a long time.
The house is on a hill and has a nice view of the hill country from just about any window. (The pictures on this post were taken last year and are not from the house. ) You will also see deer grazing freely on anything they find! I love watching them, but will have to confine my flower beds to a fenced area! (I'm going from bad to worse. So many people thought I meant "horse", I switched the pictures around. Now it looks like I think the horses are deer! I'm going to quit while I'm ahead!)
Best of all......I will have a large sewing/quilting room! It will probably be one of the last rooms we work on, but it will be wonderful having a big space! 
We are going to take our time updating the house. I'll show before and after pictures of our work. I plan on spending most of the budget on really quality purchases, then filling in by finding second hand furniture and sewing my own drapes, etc. I'll share this with you, too. Perhaps my successes and failures (and I'm sure there will be some!) will help some of you out in some small way. For example, I've already purchased a really quality leather sectional. It was on clearance at Ethan Allen because someone ordered it and then changed their color scheme. It was EXACTLY what I had in mind and although it had just come in and was in perfect condition, it was marked half price! Even at that, it was expensive, so I will need to search Craig's List for some side chairs that I can upholster. (I've never done that! Do you think I can?) I hope you'll stick around and share in my adventure! Can you tell I'm excited?

    I am so happy for you and it looks like a beautiful area to live. I can't wait to see your home and the decorating you do. I need to start making my own things too, so I will enjoy seeing what you do for your home.

    LOL!!! I saw the photo of the horses, but read that you found a "house". I thought it was a typo at first, lol!!! Wow the scenery is beautiful! I'm happy for you Linda.

    So glad for your fresh start and new beginning. A chance to have things just the way you want them. Don't compromise but make your new home exactly what you envision. Of course you can reupholster a chair you can do anything!

    I just found your blog (from SewWeQuilt) and am so excited to see you're almost a neighbor! I was born and raised in San Antonio but lived in Arizona for 20 years (even taught high school in Tombstone). I moved back to the hill country (Wimberley area) 3 years ago and love it! I look forward to seeing more of your beautiful quilts and seeing your new home - I am in awe of your wonderful attitude after losing your home to fire so recently. I saw in a previous post that you visited Valli and Kim in Dripping Springs - one of my (many, lol) favorite quilt shops. It seems so unassuming on the outside, but is so bright and beautiful inside! Good luck with the new house!

    That is really great news Linda and can't wait to see the pictures of the house. I promise not to get too green with jealousy at your large sewing room. I wonder if I could persuade John we need to move so I can have a room .. or easier I think I'll take over daughter's bedroom as I think she has moved out now.

    Hi Linda I am so happy that you have found the house that you love. Have fun making it a home.When we got married 48 years we bought all our furniture at Ethan & Allen and we still have some of the pieces and so do our children.     Hot Diggity! I love the hill country. The bluebonnets, the scrub brush, the rolling hills.... Monday is a great day to sign the papers, it's my birthday! Hopefully I'll be near you sometime this summer, since I want to visit family and friends in San Angelo. My brother and SIL have a house at Inks Lake.
