A Sweet New Seamstress!

Yes, I'm still around! I'm doing my part as a grandmother and loving every minute of it! (Even though my 5 year old grandson says, "Oh, no! You're going to do that sewing stuff again!" if I even walk past the sewing room.)
The picture here is of my 10 year old granddaughter and the dress she made! She has sewn several times before with me, but never a dress! The little sweater was purchased (and the shoes are mine!!!!!She's growing up too quickly!)

Pinning the pattern
I love seeing those young hands under the sewing machine light!
I watched her swell with pride every time someone commented on her dress. Another girl about her age stopped her in a restaurant and told her she loved her dress. That meant so much to her. Her efforts were validated! We all need that, don't we?

  4. My grandmother so wanted to teach me how to sew, but, I resisted every effort (boy do I regret that now). The dress turned out lovely. I still don't know how to sew clothes. You are making wonderful memories with her.

  27. Hi there! What a cute dress! I'm just letting you know, re your pinning rules, that I pinned your photo of the pattern laid out on the fabric. (I didn't use the photo of your granddaughter!) I have a board where I pin things for my nieces, and I would LOVE to convince one or two of them to sew a dress with me! Maybe this will sway them! :-) Could you tell me the pattern you used? Thanks for the great idea, and the sweet pictures!
