Thank you for joining me in the It's For the Birds Blog Hop today! My main project, shown above, is a wall hanging with paper pieced birds (wallhanging is my design, but the birds are a free pattern from McCall's Quilting. ). The saying is "Use what talents you possess. The woods would be silent if no birds sang except those who sang best." - Henry Van Dyke. That is such a true statement! We are often intimidated by others who outshine us. One bird above is different. She is colorful and a little non-conformist. Even her nest is different, full of colorful snippets! It's up to you to decide if she represents the best or the one who is not the best, but tries anyway. (I have a feeling there would be a difference of opinion here!)
Another project I worked on were these cute little owl pin cushions! I found this pattern in Quilt Magazine.
And the last project were these hand drawn panels. I drew them freehand with Sharpie Fabric markers. The chicks are appliqued. Although I haven't decided yet what to do with them, I know they'll find their way into a project sooner or later!
As usual, I want to thank Madame Samm and our cheerleader for this hop, MARY from I PIECE 2 Mary....
Be sure and visit the other bloggers posting today!

ReplyDeleteLinda - Thanks for the reminder that we each have our own talents. I was embarassed to sing at church. My second husband was a great encourager of my singing. We sang hymns in the car, in church, of course, and even in bed. I often wondered what the neighbors might think. Then one evening at church we had sat down early and were singing to the praise and worship music playing. A lady came in commented that we were good. Well, his mother was a trained singer as is his daughter. I knew it was mostly his singing, but I was pleased that I was at least trying. Thanks for including where we can find the patterns. I find it very frustrating to find something I like or think another would like and I have no clue where to find the pattern. Again, thanks for participating in the hop and all the inspiration.
